In preparation for Bay Visions’ March 1st tour of the Oro Loma Sanitary District wastewater treatment plant, Dr. Marc Beutel will describe how a typical wastewater treatment plant removes pollutants from domestic wastewater. Dr. Beutel’s presentation will include watching a video specifically about the Oro Loma Sanitary District treatment plant and a review of the District’s discharge permit. The 45-minute presentation will wrap up with a brief discussion of wastewater treatment and discharge across the entire San Francisco Bay region. Thanks to Linda Millard of WAGC for arranging this!
Dr. Beutel is a professor of environmental engineering at UC Merced. His research focuses on the impact and control of dilute pollutants in managed aquatic ecosystems, including nutrients, pathogens, pesticides, and metals. He teaches courses on wastewater treatment, natural treatment systems, and water quality monitoring.
